24 hour places in and around detroit (not just food!):
  • *greene's hamburgers at 10 and orchard lake road
  • *the java hutt (only the location in birmingham (old woodward, east side of the street, just south of maple (15 mile) is open 24/7)
  • *the plaka cafe on monroe in greektown
  • *new york red hots coney island at 14 and stephenson- south side of 14, west of stephenson
  • steak and shake at great lakes crossing
  • national coney island (19 locations, not all of them are 24/7)
  • julian's coney island at state fair (7 and a half mile) and john r
  • lafayette coney island at lafayette and michigan ave
  • spago's coney island on woodward between 13 and 14
  • telway at 10 mile and john r
  • white castle (one at 13 and coolidge, another at 8 and woodward, another at ford road and inkster, another on michigan avenue near rosa parks)
  • GJ's Diner (formerly Cole's) on Ford rd between merriman and venoy? (garden city/westland)
  • Redford Grill at 5 Mile and Beech Daly Rd is a decent coney
  • Bray's Burgers on Ford Rd between Middlebelt and merriman (garden city), another location is at 9 and dequindre. all hail the donkey.
  • ram's horn at 12 and gratiot, another at 16 and rochester
  • krispy kreme's drive through at 12 and gratiot
  • monty's at 9 and harper
  • IHOP on woodward near 12 mile
  • the kfc near rosedale park visible from the southfield freeway (at fenkel?)
  • the mcdonalds at 10 and dequindre (on 10, just east of dequindre) (not sure 24 hour operation)
  • the mcdonalds at 16 mile (metro pkwy) and mound in sterling heights
  • the dunkin donuts on 14 mile road between rochester and livernois (main) in clawson
  • country boy restaurant in hazel park (821 e nine mile, 248-543-7080)
  • the 25 hour party store (sic) at michigan avenue and beech daly
  • The pheonix coney island is just north of 17 mile on van dyke (on the east side of the road)
  • dennys on 12 mile east of mound, west side of gratiot south of masonic (13 1/2)
  • meijers supermarkets
  • some farmer jack's supermarkets (closed saturday night and sunday night, i think)
  • super kmart (where is this, again?) (there's one at frazho and gratiot)
  • home depot at little mack and somewhere (i'm not sure that this is 24/7 anymore, closes at midnight maybe?)
  • Denny's at Wayne and Warren
  • Denny's at Ann Arbor Rd and I-275
  • Zack's (an excellent 24-hour coney type place that is OPEN SUNDAY) at Main and Ann Arbor Rd in plymouth (west of 275)
  • A coney at 12 and Greenfield (closed sunday nights)
  • A coney at 10 and Halsted
  • the truck stop on I-75 and west road: always open.. video games, movies and bad food
  • dennys on sibley and fort street
  • dennys Eurkea Road and I-75

the list is very food-centric. i will add any restaurant or food-related submissions that i receive, but the best submissions are other kinds of places.

submissions don't have to be in the city of detroit (steak and shake at glx is probably 40 minutes from 'the city'), just in the metro area. it doesn't have to be food, just anything that's 24 hour and useful. i've decided that gas stations and convenience stores will be omitted, as anyone who lives anywhere near detroit already knows where to find those in the middle of the night.

Please don't drive a long way without first verifying this data and then blame me if the place isn't open or doesn't exist. some of this information may be outdated or incorrect... please check it first! please notify me if you find any errors.
